A year of fundraising activities for Severn Hospice
This week Alex Morris and Trish Dovaston were delighted to present a cheque for £2,269 to Samantha Haydon from Severn Hospice in Telford.
The donation represented the total raised through a series of fun fundraising activities which have taken place amongst our colleagues in support of Severn Hospice’s invaluable work across the county.
Over the past year, our three companies (Morris Property, Morris & Company and Marrington Escapes) organised a series of fundraising events involving staff, partners and the local community. From walking challenges, Dress Down Fridays to collections for ‘donation stations’, each activity was fuelled by the compassion and generosity of staff for a local charity that has touched the lives of so many.
Severn Hospice, which is a beacon of comfort for individuals and families facing life-limiting illnesses in Shropshire, relies on the support of local businesses to provide specialised care and support services free of charge. The funds raised will directly contribute to enhancing the quality of life for patients and their loved ones at home and in their hospices in Telford and Shrewsbury.
Speaking about the fundraising, Alex Morris, Quantity Surveyor, was grateful to all those who contributed to the programme of fundraising. “It’s great to see such commitment from all our colleagues and a big thank you goes out to all those who supported us. It is so heartening to witness the difference we can make when we come together for a common cause.”
Samantha Haydon, Corporate Fundraiser at Severn Hospice said: “The continued support from Morris & Company means so much to us, and we are grateful for their donation. It costs around £200 for one of our Hospice at Home nurses to stay with a family through the night to care for a loved one, meaning that Morris’ fundraising has paid for the equivalent of 11 nights of dedicated care and support for local families”.
As Morris and Company continues to prioritise corporate social responsibility and community support, it remains particularly committed to supporting local causes like Severn Hospice that play a vital role in improving the well-being of those living in the local communities the company serves.
