Morris Joinery crafts bespoke board table for Welsh Bridge HQ
Our experienced timber specialists, Morris Joinery, have crafted a stunning table for the board room at parent company, Morris & Company’s Welsh Bridge offices. This impressive project, led by Workshop Foreman Jamie Goffin, was part of the comprehensive office renovations at the landmark building.
The building renovations were overseen by Head of Estates Neil Anderson and included working with Group Marketing Director Katie Morris, to create an expanded and upgraded boardroom. The resultant brief was to craft a statement board table that seamlessly blended contemporary design with the historic character of the building’s panelled interior.
Drawing inspiration from contemporary and traditional design pieces, the final design featured two exquisite slabs of English walnut, sourced from fellow family business Nelson Butler & Sons, selected for their striking natural edges – a hallmark of many contemporary epoxy table designs.
The table was meticulously crafted using jet-black epoxy resin, which dramatically accentuates the walnut’s rich, black streaky grain. The resin application was a multi-stage process, requiring two separate pours over two weeks followed by a three-week curing period.
To complete the table, it was meticulously sanded and finished with Rubio Monocoat wood oil and lacquer, providing both a flawless appearance and exceptional durability.
For maximum strength and a contemporary aesthetic, the table legs were expertly fabricated by Neal Jones of Salop Fabrications, a tenant of Morris Property at Centurion Park. Constructed from steel, the legs were then powder-coated in jet black to perfectly match the epoxy resin.
Upon completion, the Morris Joinery team carefully transported the table to the Welsh Bridge offices, where it now takes pride of place in the renovated boardroom.
“Building the Morris & Company board table was a unique and rewarding challenge for our team,” commented Jamie Goffin, Workshop Foreman at Morris Joinery. “Epoxy tables are becoming increasingly popular, and we are excited to explore more of these bespoke projects in the future.”
